Three people were killed in a fatal accident near Indira Mor in Maynaguri when a cauliflower-laden pickup van collided with a truck. The incident occurred early on Tuesday morning when a truck, traveling from Jalpaiguri towards Dhupguri, was struck from behind by a pickup van. The victims, identified as Pabitra Pahan (19), Augustin Bachra (23), and Amit Tudu (28), were residents of Chopra in Uttar Dinajpur district.
The force of the collision caused severe damage to the front of the pickup van, and all three occupants were seriously injured. Local police and emergency services responded quickly, with personnel from Maynaguri Police Station, highway traffic, and the fire department arriving at the scene. The injured were taken to Maynaguri Rural Hospital, where they were declared dead upon arrival by the attending medical staff.
Authorities confirmed that the pickup van was carrying a load of cauliflower to Dhupguri. The truck and the pickup van were both severely damaged in the crash, but no further injuries were reported from other vehicles or people in the area. Police have begun a thorough investigation into the incident, reviewing vehicle conditions and gathering eyewitness accounts to understand the cause of the collision.
